Ok, I had to post another card using my metal sheets.  : )  For this one I cut the metal with a die-cut machine, glued red cardstock behind it, and put stickles on the red that shows through.

This post is long overdue!!!  I won the cutest little monkey from Robyn when she had "blog candy" several months ago (click on her name to see her blog). Robyn, I'm sorry it took me so long to post this.  Thank you!!!! : )

The designer paper is from some scraps I had so I don't even know the name of it.

The letters spelling out the word "JOY" are made with my metal sheets using the cuttlebug machine. I colored the letters using a copper Krylon pen. I also used the copper pen to put a copper border on the mat piece of the main image.

I used the Stampin' Up mat pack and a black pen for the faux stitching.

Several of you have asked my how to apply the alcohol inks to the metal, so I made a little tutorial to explain.  Because it can be difficult to take pictures of the metal I decided to do the tutorial with white glossy paper, so hopefully you'll be able to see it better. 

Here are the supplies you'll need.

copper mixative

alcohol inks:  (I used ginger and pesto for my sample)

Felt applicator tool: (this tool has velcro on it and you can stick a new little piece of felt to it whenever you want to change colors, etc.)

Alcohol blending solution:

The two dominos in the picture are my little color samples.  I made a sample of each color of alcohol ink I have. The mini dominos are perfect for this. Whenever I need to choose which colors I want to use on a project I look through the sample dominos to see what I think looks good together.  Thank you to Joy for this cool idea!!!  : )

Ok... this is really easy.... here we go...

Sorry this picture isn't the greatest, but hopefully it's good enough for the explanation. Each square in the picture shows the corresponding steps below.

Step 1.  I put 2-3 dots each of pesto & ginger alcohol inks on the felt. I then dabbed the felt applicator on the paper several times, leaving some white space.

Step 2.  I then put a couple drops of the copper mixative on the applicator and dabbed that on the paper... still leaving a little white space.

Step 3.  Last, I put two small drops of the alcohol blending solution on the applicator and dabbed this around on the paper. This causes the copper and inks to blend.

I think this technique actually works better on the metal than on the paper. You can use the alcohol inks on any type of surface and it dries fast.  :  )

A couple weeks ago Stampin' Up gave all their demonstrators a Free Stamp set as a Christmas present.   A few days before I received the new set I had cut out this big dog dish from my metal (using a die-cut machine).  I wanted to use it on a card but kept wondering what in world I could do with it. Then the new stamp set arrived and I saw the stamp that says "too much of a good thing is a GOOD THING."  And there you have it.   : )

Since I had quite a few people wanting to buy the metal sheets I decided to order some more.  So, it's not too late to buy some. (Click HERE for the post with prices and shipping info.)

For those of you who have already paid for your metal (as of Nov. 12), your metal has been shipped. If you haven't received it yet, you should shortly. I mailed a big bundle of packages today.  : )

Anyone looking for a good price for Metal? I recently found a great source for metal sheets. These work great in the cuttlebug and other embossing and die-cutting systems. You can acheive a unique look by applying alcohol inks, you can stamp on it with stazon ink, or send it through the crimper.

Here's another card made with the metal.  I posted this one back in May, but I decided to re-post it since it's another sample using the metal. 

This was done using a cuttlebug embossing folder to emboss the metal.  To make it look like aged copper I used the copper alcohol inks (actually the metallic colors are called mixatives, not alcohol inks) with a dauber.  I love how you can turn a silver piece of metal into copper or gold. Ok, I know you're not really "turning it into" copper or gold.  But I think it looks cool and it gives you more options with the metal.  : )

Another fun thing you can do with the metal is apply alcohol inks.  These inks are a lot of fun and work awesome on metal.  I cut the letters with the cuttlebug first and then applied the inks.

Ok, I've been a pretty bad blogger lately, haven't I?!!  I'm in the process of looking for a full time job and I've also been super busy trying to organize and clean out some things at my house.  I'll soon be back to blogging several times a week.  : )

For today I have a few stamp sets to sell. These are all retired sets. Most of them have barely been used.

This set is called "A Gift From Heaven."  I mounted it, but don't think I've ever used it, as I can't see any ink staining on the rubber or the wood.  It retired a few years ago... sorry... I don't remember exactly which year.  I'm asking $20 + shipping.  (Of course there's no shipping if you live close enough to pick to it up.)

I love this set. It's called "Star of Wonder."  It's super easy to make your Christmas cards with this one... no coloring in... just go monochromatic and it's beautiful. There is no ink staining on the rubber, but there is a little ink on the edge of the large block.  $20 + shipping.

This is set is pretty rare, as it was only given to demonstrators for sales of certain amount (several years ago). It's called "Santa & Friends."  I cut out the stamps but then never ended up mounting them. So they're all cut out for you, ready to stick on the wood blocks.  I'm was so tempted not to sell this, because I think those 2 snowmen are adorable, but I need to cut down on my stamps... so it must go.  $25 + shipping.

Ok, here's another retired set that I really like. I bought it to do Christmas cards one year. I mounted it, but never ended up making the cards... so it's brand new... no ink staining at all. Mounted and ready to go. It's called "A Gift of Love."  $20 + shipping.
